Well, it’s here…the BIG 40! It got me thinking about what does 40 mean and mainly what grandiose gift will I bestow upon myself. I read a great article about being in your 40′s (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wendy-fontaine/40-things-i-can-do-at-40-that-i-couldnt-do-when-i-was-20_b_4537538.html) and I pondered the things on the list.
I realized I’ve led a pretty interesting life, like I’m sure most have. So, I got down and deep with my wins and not wins. I graduated with a degree in Fashion and work in this industry. I bought a house by MYSELF, no man needed. I’ve bought my own cars. I accomplished my dream of owning my own boutique. I made the cover of a magazine for being stylish. I’ve traveled. I was star of a television show for two years with over 100 episodes broadcast. I’ve written fashion columns for various publications. I’ve sat on several boards. I’ve broken hearts and had my heart broken. I’ve run a marathon. I have real authentic friendships. I can go to dinner by myself, leave the house with no makeup, cook a great meal and know what’s best for me. I am happy for others successes and empathize with those who suffer. I got the coveted bag of every fashionista’s dreams the BIRKIN. I was married and wedding was featured in magazines. I’ve been divorced. I’ve lost it all and built it back. I’ve had humble pie, found the taste to be rather pleasing and eye-opening.
Upon this reflection I came to the realization I don’t need a thing. I have it all! Amazing family and friends, a roof over my head, steady income, my health and a happy relationship with someone kind and emotionally strong (finally). Instead of gifting myself, I’m going to gift OTHERS! I will do 40 Acts of Kindness this year. It may be charitable work, participating in a fundraising event, or just buying a person Starbucks in line behind me. I’ve been given so much, with love being #1 that I want to give that back to the universe!
If you have any recommendations or need a helping hand HOLLA’! I’ve started orientation process to work with ill children at Disney Pavilion in Florida Hospital, styling women getting back into workforce at Dress for Success, a literacy program in Winter Park and signed up for a march. I’d welcome any suggestions! 40 is going to feel OH SO GOOD!

1. Plant some CAbi on your body, water with some fierce accessories (Gloss Visual Atelier), Fendi Gold Platforms, Gucci Suede Peep toes–the usual; see the orders and good times GROW!
2. Be helpful in the CAbi hostess kitchen; see toothpicks in Swiss Cake Rolls. You’re welcome Leigh!
